I use the same recipe for slider buns and dinner rolls – maybe they’re different but for me, they’re identical. Those soft and pillowy mini buns are irresistible when they’re right out from the oven!
Speaking about dinner rolls, they are called ‘morning rolls’ in East Asia. Maybe it’s because in most times bread is not consumed at dinner. It’s weird but also makes sense when food is exported to countries where the name don’t quite match their cultural background. For another example, Eggs in Purgatory’ from Italy has also changed it’s name to ‘Eggs in Hell’ in Korea. Since the idiom ‘purgatory’ is not so familiar for most of the people who live in East Asia, except for Catholics, many use the word ‘hell’ or choose the Tunisian word ‘Shakshuka’ which has no Christian meaning to it. Oh well, I’m totally getting off the track now, so here goes the recipe!
- 5-6 Cups All Purpose flour (depending on how far you can handle sticky dough)
- 2 Cups Milk
- 2 Tbsp dry yeast (3 Tbsp if using fresh yeast)
- 2/3 stick butter (85g)
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 2 tsp salt
